IRATA Nivo 2 — advanced rigging and rescue competence

The second IRATA technical grade for experienced Level 1 technicians ready to progress to more complex rigging and rescue work.

Is Level 2 right for you?

Za aktivne tehničare Nivoa 1 sa potrebnim iskustvom i evidentiranim satima koji su spremni za složeniji rigging, izvlačenje tereta i spasavanje.

What this level means

Before attending an upgrade course, candidates should already be competent in all Level 1 practical and theoretical requirements. Level 2 expands capability in rigging, rescue and hauling systems.

12 months

At least one year since the Level 1 assessment.

1000 hours

At least 1000 working hours logged in the IRATA logbook.

Valid certificate

The current IRATA certificate must still be valid on assessment day.

Upgrade route

Candidates must arrive proficient in Level 1 practical and theoretical requirements.

Level 2 is an upgrade route. Your current Level 1 certification must still be in date on the day of the independent assessment.

  • Bring your IRATA logbook showing at least 12 months and 1000 logged working hours since your Level 1 assessment.
  • Refresh the Level 1 manoeuvres and theory before the first training day.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

What you need before the course

  • Identification card or passport.
  • A current IRATA certificate that remains valid on the day of assessment.
  • At least one year since the Level 1 assessment and at least 1000 working hours logged in the logbook.
  • The logbook should be presented to the lead trainer at the beginning of the course.
  • Candidates should be physically fit and unaffected by a condition that could prevent safe work at height.
  • Adequate strength, agility and coordination, together with an appropriate attitude to work at height.

COURSE CONTENT

Techniques and knowledge covered

  • Proficiency in Level 1 techniques
  • Rigging: wide Y-hang, deviation, re-anchor, tension lines, cross-haul, lifelines, work-restraint lines and pull-through systems
  • Rescue from ascent mode
  • Rescues from manoeuvres including single deviation, re-anchor, rope transfer with casualty and aid climbing
  • Hanging and lowering systems

AFTER SUCCESSFUL ASSESSMENT

What a Level 2 technician can do

  • Extended knowledge of rigging systems.
  • Rescue capability from most rope-access manoeuvres and situations covered at this level.
  • Ability to assemble and implement basic hauling systems and hauling systems for rescue.

Content aligned with IRATA TACS [TC-101], Issue 006, and the IRATA International Code of Practice [TC-102].
